Current Disaster Sites
The following FamilyMessages sites are currently active: --
Site status: Active
Southern California Wildfires Site li>
This site has been activated in light of the unprecedented evacuations resulting from the spread of
wildfires throughout southern California. The site has been established to help evacuees keep
loved ones posted on their status as well as to assist families during their temporary relocation.
Stand-by Disaster Sites
Standby.FamilyMessages.Org --
Site status: Contingency
This site has been prepared for use but has not been activated at this time. FamilyMessages
will monitor situations and activate
this (or a similar site) as needed.
Read-only Disaster Sites
Once the immediate impact of a disaster has subsided, the long-term process of reconnecting
people displaced by the event can take a very long time. Even after most of the names of
those missing and of the survivors have been entered, the discovery of one to another can
take weeks and months. As a result, FamilyMessages will transition formerly "active" DR sites
into a "read-only" mode which allows data to be searched but not updated. These "Read-only"
DR sites can stay online for upwards of a year, depending on the severity of the event.
Restricted Access Disaster Sites
In rare cases, survivor databases are retained after the one-year deadline as long as there are
still recovery efforts making use of the site. These sites are placed in a "restricted access"
mode, requiring an authorized login/password combination for access. For more information,
please contact FamilyMessages via the DCRE Labs
support group.
